[NEWS] Avex, YG Entertainment unite for new YGEX label
On Thursday, Avex announced a new major project in collaboration with Korean music production company YG Entertainment. Together, they are establishing a new label called YGEX, to be used exclusively for YG Family artists. As of now, the artists attached to the label are BIGBANG, 2NE1, SE7EN, GUMMY, and PSY.
While the YGEX name is obviously a combination of “YG” and “Avex,” it also said that the “EX” stands for both “Experience” and “Exclusive.”
GUMMY will release a mini-album in October, and SE7EN will also have a new mini-album sometime in the fall. 2NE1, who are already set for their Japan debut mini-album on September 21, will hold a tour from September to October that will take them to Yokohama Arena, Kobe World Kinen Hall, and Makuhari Messe. The members of BIGBANG also have plans to extend their activities in Japan as either solo artists or as units.
It was also announced that there are plans to produce a new artist who will debut in Korea and Japan at the same time.
2NE1′s Dara revealed that the YG Family will hold a concert in Korea, followed by another in Japan.
More details about the YGEX project will be revealed on the official YGEX website.
